Notes:Verified with Flora of China online draft and Rehder, A.'Synopis of the Genus Lonicera', Annual Report, Missouri Botanical Garden. 14. 1903. Sect. Isika, Subsect. Purpurascentes. Erect shrub, pith white, solid. Winter buds with several pairs of scales. Petiole 2-3 mm. Leaves opposite, leaf blade oblong to obovate, papery. Peduncles nodding, axillary, longer than 1 cm, flowers paired. Bracts narrow. Bracteoles separate or united, hirsute or not, shorter than ovaries. Neighbouring ovaries fused. Fruit red, seeds ovoid.

Field notes:Following the Baishui River downstream, east facing mountainside (Gonggan Ling Mt.) of Abies faxonianaon damp thick moss. Shrub up to 1.5m. Leaf on lower part dense fanshaped, young upright shoots with leaf up to 3cm long with longer internodes.
