Notes: Verified with 'The Sections of Begonia' by J. Doorenbos et al. 1998; and 'Begoniaceae' by Lyman B. Smith et al. Sect. Knesebeckia. Stem creeping, internodes short with large scarious stipules. Leaves peltate, red abaxially, fleshy and serrate. Junction leaf blade-petiole with a tuft of long hairs. Inflorescence 5-6 times dichotomous. Bracteoles at base of ovary deciduous. Female flowers with 5 pink tepals, ovary 3 locular, 2 placentas branches per locule. Male flowers with 4 pink tepals, anther rounded without connective. Submitted as B. tayabensis which is in a different section. Keys out as B.serotina but no herbarium specimen or images to compare.
