Notes: Verified with 'Flore de Madagascar' vol. 129. Sect. Azanza. Plant densely stellate hairy and with stipules. Flowers axillary and solitary. Eight bracts fused in a cupule to 2/3, located at base of flower but not reflexed or fused to calyx. Calyx fused with thick cartalaginous base. Ovary hairy 5-locular with many ovules. Corolla red-purple, hairy, base narrowed with nectar pouches where corolla meets with androphore. Bracts cupula should be refelexed but this may be a different form or variation.
