Notes: Verified with Allan, H.H. 'Flora of New Zealand'. Juvenile form but already flowering. Flowers white cymose. Pedicels stellate pubescent. Calyx campanulate, petals narrow and spathulate. Styles 5, hairy, stigmas capitate. Staminal column white and hispid. Carpels 5 and fruit with winged mericarps.

Locality:  New Zealand, Sth Island, Canterbury: Banks Peninsula, Hinewai Reserve (private), 7km SE of Akaroa, Small Look- Out track off Long Bay Road towards Otanerito Bay.
Coordinates:  215m
Field notes: Tree to 12m tall. Leaves lanceolate with very distinct toothed margins, dark green above very pale underneath, coriaceous. Leaves to 3-4cm. Fruit with 5 unfused winged carpels. Regenerating woodland with Hoheria angustifolia, Macropiper sp., Parsonsia sp., Hedycaria sp., Calystegia tugoriorum.
