Notes: Verified with Flora of China online ( and the European Garden Flora. Inflorescence spicate, cylindrical and dense. Flowers one per bract. Bracts shorter than the flowers. Calyx surrounding the flowers and longer than the corolla tube. Corolla tube to 15mm long. Staminodes orange. Lip as long as lateral staminodes, notched. Anther succulent sligthly hairy and saccate with style running through it. Stigmas hairy. Ligule and sheath reddish. Similar and possibly the form called 'Assam Orange' collected by Frank Kingdom Ward in Puthang/Balpara frontier track. 2000m . #817 in 1938 and grown at Wakehurst place.
