Living Collection Virtual Herbarium

Zingiberaceae
Hedychium gomezianum Wall.

Verified by: Chayan Picheansoonthon, 7 October 2013
Notes: Verified with Siriuysa & Larsen 1995 'The genus Hedychium in Thailand' Nordic Journal of Botany 15: 301-304. Leaves glabrous, ligules to 4 cm long and hairy. Inflorescence dense but internodes still visible. Bracts very short to 7mm long. Calyx 3/4 as long as the corolla tube. Corolla tube to 2.cm long, labellum deeply bifid (1/2 -3/4). Staminodes oblanceolate as long as labellum to 2cm long. Flowers orange-yellow. Anther lanceolate to 8mm long. This seems close to H. ellipticum but the inflorescence is not dense enough and the anther too big.
