Gazetteer:5 km from Geza (Gezancun) towards Langdoucun. Top of the pass.
Coordinates: 28.1476 N, 99.9037 E  Alt: 4479m 

Herb 5cm tall. Leafy from base to apex. Leaves woolly beneath with wavy margins. Upper leaves purplish. Inflorescence terminal or capitate capitula. Florets dark purple.
Alpine scree. SW-facing slope 45 with Potentilla, Bistorta, Arenaria, mosses.

Identification Notes:Verified with Flora of China online Tribe CARDUEAE Subgenus Eriocoryne. Stem hollow, widening at apex. Synflorescence of 12 capitula, overtopping the leaves. Phyllaries imbricate in several whorls. Receptacle with bristles. Style with a thickened ridge below the stigmas. Anther tube with feathery tails at the base. Pappus plumose, grey-brown.
