Yunnan 2010 Caprifoliaceae for the Flora of China


Allium ovalifolium Hand.-Mazz.    

Region:Yunnan; Zhongdian (Shangri-la) Pref.; Deqin Xian
Gazetteer:Yak cheese farm (Nailaochang), Langducun.
Coordinates: 28.2359 N, 99.9940 E  Alt: 3658m 

30 cm tall. Leaves 2, with sinuate margins. Flowers with dark purple tepals in 2 whorls, one erect, one spreading. Anthers orange-yellow, filaments dark purple, ovary green. Spathe splitting on one side. Roots fleshy, stem base with fibrous reticulate tunics.
Forest with Quercus, Sorbus, Salix, creeping Rubus, Berberis, Clematis, Rhododendron, and species-rich herb layer including Thalictrum, Trollius, Triosteum.

Identification Notes:Verified with Flora of China online Bulb narrow, elongate. Ovule 1 per locule.
