Gazetteer:Kunmíng on hills above Xiao Shao on National Road 213 to Jiao zi shan.
Coordinates: 25.2097° N, 102.7424° E  Alt: 2319m 

2 m tall tree, leaves dark green, leathery. Male catkins pendulous.
South facing slope, rocky, scrub. Growing with Ficus ti-kona, Cotoneaster, Berberis. Limestone.

Identification Notes:Verified with Flora of China online www.efloras.org. Leaves with a thick, ferruginous indumentum abaxially with sparse stellate hairs. Sparsely stellate hairy at base adaxially.
